BROKEN SILENCE
BROKEN SILENCE
I am an art teacher in secondary school. I will break white silence by incorporating black artists into my curriculum and promoting learning and discussion of the racism they face or have faced and, where appropriate, how they address this in their work. I will give my pupils the opportunity to think about the privileges they may enjoy or be denied, and express positive messages of equality through art.

The black community have shouldered this burden alone for too long. It is time for us to pick up the fight. Too late but we promise it won't be too little. I have already spoken to hundreds of people in my big organisation about the change we need to see. I will speak to a thousand more. But more importantly we will help you dismantle white supremacy in every facet that it exists.

I'm a secondary school teacher and the kids in our school (past and present) have already put together an open letter/petition to get more and better diversity education and to stamp out racism in school. I will find as many ways as I can to help push this.

I am happy to stand up for what's right. A man on the train one day accused a man of acting suspiciously. The man was doing nothing wrong. I had a discussion with the accusing man and pointed out I felt he was being racist, the man had done nothing & wasn't acting suspiciously. We had a lengthy exchange and people on the train started clapping...

I am a teacher in a UK secondary school I have started a group with all staff to think of ways we can help and stop racism. We are supporting the campaign run by the black curriculum.
We will be implementing change and challenging where we can. I have asked for a speaker at the next school INSET (September) to support the cause.
We can make a difference through education

I am 34 year old white woman with three children, one of whom is part black American.
I am ashamed to say I have never educated her on her heritage or helped her get to know her culture, I will ensure I educate myself so I can educate all of my children.
I will support the fight for justice and actively encourage them to be a part of it...

I will not be silent any longer in fear of upsetting friends colleagues etc.
I will speak out at every opportunity.
Even if the only thing I can do is share on social media I will advance into my old age fighting for BLM

I support you. I am examining myself for nuances of racism and bias. I am watching videos, reading articles on the history of racism and slavery and sharing them with many others. Although I have a migrant history and childhood experiences of prejudice I recognise that my white skin meant I could hide. I'm proud of what the Bristol protest achieved in one historic moment that years of debate couldn't. I'm old now but will if possible attend local protests.

I will ask why when family members like posts that are racist. I will break my silence and challenge their opinions when they post messages or share messages from others that spread hate and fear. I will educate myself and my children and speak out and challenge where I can. All lives matter.

I will kneel in solidarity tomorrow in Chichester but I already speak out & will continue to do so.

Black lives matter. Nobody should be discriminated against because of the colour of their skin or their ancestry. But it happens every day. I'm sure I make mistakes all the time when interacting with/talking about people of colour. I apologise and I will try harder.

Major political and social change takes a long time unfortunately, but with small steps and a determination from many sections of society, it will happen. I stand against discrimination of any kind and with hope a better society will come.

As a white man in the UK I definitely can do more to help end this culture of racism.

We are all human, we all love, we all hurt, we are the same. Race, creed, religion will never change that.

The mistreatment of people based on something so ridiculous as race is ludicrous. How can this still be happening?

I’m breaking the white silence and am determined to see a positive change for all worldwide.

I WILL NOT STOP

UNTIL THERE'S JUSTICE AND PEACE.

I will stand today with black people because Black lives matter.

I will use my voice and educate myself and learn and listen and pass on the message to everyone and anyone.

I will ask my employers and work place and community what are they doing to make a change because there is only one race and it's the human race!!

I will not stop until there is justice, equality and peace.

We can all love again

I WILL BREAK MY SILENCE

"I am a 41 year old white guy. I grew up in Derby and have never considered myself as racist.

However, I am ashamed to say that it was only today whilst discussing the murder of George Floyd that I realised that I had no idea what 'White Privilege' actually means.

I will break white silence by continuing to educate myself and calling out racial prejudice."

TELL US HOW YOU HAVE OR WILL BREAK

WHITE SILENCE. RACISM

Tell us how you dealt with or will deal with racist remarks, act of discrimination; be it an everyday comment or a blatant performed act of racism.

Racism is Racism.

What will you say or what will you do next time?

Be part of the NEW Revolution that finds another way, a way to break white silence and mental chains of racism, so black people no longer have to continue to fight, an unjust fight they cannot win alone without solidarity of white citizens, white allies and or without uprising that only serves to hurts us all and breaks down society.

White silence perpetuates racism. End WHITE SILENCE.

Black people don't want to fight to survive they want to live another way, a just and fair way.

BUT until then black citizens will have little choice than to create BLACK NOISE and protest when confronted with a shield of WHITE SILENCE.

BLACK PEOPLE will fight even though their bodies are tired and rise to fight another day for justice and equality and fight for as long as it take...

If you're white and anti-racist stand with us shoulder to shoulder, and we with stand to shine with you too!

Send us a message on how you have or will prepare to BREAK WHITE SILENCE.

NO JUSTICE NO PEACE
